The Respond Blog

365 Days Beating Banner Blindness

Wow – what a year! We began 2011 with three audacious assumptions: publishers would add Respond; advertisers would use Respond to promote their brands; and consumers would click Respond call-to-action buttons.

Happily we were right. Over 2,000 publishers have added the Respond button, including some of the UK's biggest (with more going live early next year).

Many of the world’s leading brands advertise with Respond too, including Apple, Nike, Disney, British Airways, Timberland, Microsoft and LoveFilm.

And consumers engaged with Respond call-to-action buttons in greater numbers than we could have hoped for.

Average CTRs on premium sites are 0.9% – that’s more than ten times better than banner ads, even though the Respond button is ten times smaller.

We're on course to reach 1 billion monthly impressions in 2012. That means more conversions for advertisers and more revenue for publishers.

But before we take a breather for Christmas, we'd like to say a big thank you to our clients and partners for making 2011 so special.

Here's to another year beating banner blindness!
